Asleh Family Statement

Being Palestinian we face injustice every day. Whenever we hear about a Palestinian being injured, arrested, murdered or just oppressed in any way we remember Asel. We don’t only remember him because of his death and the pain we feel, but we also remember his life and fighter spirit. Asel reminds us, always, that we have to stand with those who suffer as we do, and who will fight with us. That is a lesson that we learn from Asel and from the martyrs, prisoners, protesters, writers, actors, artists and anyone who devoted their time and energy to free Palestine and for liberation from all oppressions wherever it may be. We hope that those who watch this film will come away with the same understanding that we gained: that solidarity is a responsibility we have towards other people who face what we face and that in coming and fighting together, we are much more powerful and resilient in our struggle for freedom.
